Did you know that you can use Bach flowers for personal development?

The qualities of Bach flowers

The relationship between plants and flowers and human life has been known since ancient times, from Egypt, India and Asia their healing properties have always been used to improve emotional, mental and physical well-being. The flower is the manifestation of the maximum expression of a plant, within itself it contains the essence of the potential of nature.

All we need to do is keep our personality, live our real life. We must be the captain of the ship. And everything will be fine.
Edward Bach

Each of the 38 flowers discovered by physicist and microbiologist Dr. Edgardi Bach (1886 – 1936) in the 1920s embodies a quality capable of stimulating an improvement in inner well-being thanks to a quantum resonance effect. For example, the flower “Mustard” (Sinapis Arvensis) contains within itself the quality of “Light”, particularly recommended for those who tend to feel melancholy without knowing the reason for their discomfort, for those who suffer from universal pain and suffer moods of sadness; Mustard allows you to “disperse the dark clouds of sadness and rediscover the light” (Dr. Ermanno Paolelli – Manual of Clinical Flower Therapy “).

There is a Bach flower for anxiety, one for fear, one for anger and so on, each Bach flower can re-harmonize an inner disharmonic state bringing it back to a state of harmony and well-being.

The Difference Between Using Flower Remedies in Therapy and Personal Development

Bach flower remedies are used within certain complementary and alternative health practices. A practitioner may prepare a blend containing two or more flower remedies, typically up to a maximum of seven. Within Bach flower therapy, these preparations are traditionally used over a period of several weeks.

It is important to note that evidence supporting Bach flower remedies for treating psychological or medical conditions remains limited, and they should not be considered a substitute for evidence-based medical or psychological care.

In coaching, the focus is not on treating psychological or emotional disorders. Instead, the symbolic qualities traditionally associated with a flower chosen by the coachee can be incorporated into meditation and personal-development exercises to support reflection and action towards a specific goal.

For example, a meditation focused on self-esteem might be associated with the Bach flower remedy “Larch” (Larix decidua), traditionally linked within the Bach system to confidence and the ability to take action. In a coaching context, this association can therefore be used as a symbolic prompt to help the coachee focus on confidence, initiative and concrete action.

Within coaching, the flower remedy may be combined with visualisation, meditation and positive affirmations as part of a broader neuro-associative practice. The coachee consciously defines their intention and the qualities they want to develop, while the exercises provide a structured framework for focusing attention on those qualities.

From this perspective, Bach flowers can therefore be used as symbolic tools for exploring personal qualities and potential, rather than as clinically proven mechanisms for changing unconscious processes.

The Bach Flower Self-Coaching Kit

Dr Ermanno Paolelli, psychiatrist, homeopath and psychotherapist, founded the PNQ® – Neuro-Quantum Programming® Institute. Among the different approaches incorporated into his method, Bach flowers are also used as tools for personal development.

Through the “Qualities of the Soul – Neuro-Quantum Programming®” kit he developed, Coaches can guide coachees through exercises focused on exploring and developing personal qualities. The kit contains coloured cards associated with positive statements and with the qualities traditionally attributed to different Bach flowers. These can be incorporated into guided visualisation exercises as prompts for reflection and personal development.

At Quantasia, we work with Neuro-Quantum Programming® and Neuro-Emotional Coaching. If you would like to learn more about the method, you can request a complimentary, no-obligation introductory meeting.
